As some of you know, paper weaving is an addictive practice! With this class I hope to bring some new weavers into the fold and catch up with some experienced weavers to share some new techniques. We’ll use simple materials and a collection of papers to learn how to create beautifully textured woven surfaces that can become finished artwork, collage elements, or the foundation for future mixed-media projects.

We will study several weaving techniques, from classic over-under patterns to more expressive and unexpected approaches that add movement, texture, and personality to your work. Along the way, you'll explore color, pattern, composition, and ways to combine woven papers with collage to create one-of-a-kind pieces.

This live Zoom workshop is designed for all experience levels. Whether you're new to collage or an experienced mixed-media artist looking for fresh inspiration, you'll leave with new techniques, creative confidence, and plenty of ideas to continue weaving long after class ends.

This is a process based workshop! You may end the class with finished pieces but the point of the class is to learn the many techniques to then apply to your work. Perfect for beginners looking to dive into collage and experienced artists ready to expand their practice. There will be a shared image site for participants to show their works in progress and share ideas.
